ID CARDS – Petitions – For OR Against
Posted in Government on September 25th, 2008These can either be a good idea or a really bad one. My first question is that of the card stating in the remarks section what your work status is. In the example one I have seen, the remarks section displays NO WORK, does that mean that you will have to get a new one each time your employment staus changes?, and I really doubt they would be quick in replacing them, it takes long enough to get a new passport by current standards, and what relevance is your employment status to that of your identity. Is it not enough that we hold passports amongst numerous other forms of identity. I am not a horse and my already dwindling spirit deos not need breaking. Pets have tags in case they should get lost, why not give everyone a numeric code and tatoo it on our foreheads and really put us in our places. I mean really, has it come to the stage where we really need to be so confined to who we are? And in what instances do they give benefit over other forms of identity, when there is already fraud and forgeries of exiting forms of identity. My opinion is their a complete waste of time and money as well as pointing out that we have all become so paranoid and maybe complacent in allowing our government to allow such an introduction to essentially what I believe to be control. Prisoners are already tagged (which I do think, fair enough according to the reason for their being tagged) and so leads me to the question of what next? will the governement eventually put a chip in everyone to monitor our every move, just to be absolutely sure we don’t step out of line? I wonder what the future holds.
Either way, whatever your opinion, you can check out http://search.petitions.number10.gov.uk/kbroker/number10/petitions/search.lsim?ha=1157&sc=number10&qt=id+cards
And cast your vote on a petition for or against ID Cards, whether you do or don’t support the introduction of Identity Cards, your say can count on the petitions on the 10 Downing Street Website. If your like me, NO ID CARDS THANKS.
