my thoughts on the planet this week

I am really glad to see that there are so many people interested in the site, I didn’t expect such a great response.

However, I wonder how many just give the site a quick browse and leave without much thought or actual interest. This is something very hard to gauge when there are so few comments.

I have links to other interesting sites offering eco alternatives in cosmetics, clothing and so on.

The intention of this site is to raise awareness and I ask you to read and browse the sites entirity (should you have the time) and please comment as well as share your ideas and knowledge of many of the great ideas, products and tips towards living a greener life for an ultimately greener planet.  

I will be adding to the site all the time and as it will grow, I hope the supporters and comments will do so too, in great numbers.

I have just watched the 11th hour and advise those of you that have not viewed it yet, to do so.

 It is important that we all make changes and collectively this can make great change to the world we know today.

One of the factor’s of importance that I feel came up in the film was that of the money orientated world that does not allow change at the current time. The fuel provider’s (many of them well known names of petrol stations), are the ones with the power, (power = money) to act and implement change for the better for the environment as well as our own welfare as humans and many other species and factors.

 The point being we are almost being held at our own mercy by the companies that provide our fuel. The costs are rising in price and the cost is greater than just the value of money, in terms of the depletion of the ozone layer, the smog that covers many of the world’s cities etc.

Of course, fuel is not the only problem that needs to be addressed, however, it is something that with changes in place and greater awareness , we can develop and demand sustainable energy resources with today’s technology.

I have just been reading about pedal generators and have often wondered why gyms do not employ this method of providing self sufficient eco-friendly energy. It has bugged me for ages, after having been told by my Fiance that once Glastonbury had been powered by the visitors pedalling to generate the electricity to power the amps, lights and so on.

I couldn’t help but think why are such great ideas left to diminish into just memories. Well, I found some good news while researching pedal power, and there is a gym in Seattle as well as Hong Kong adopting the method of pedal power to generate the gyms electricity. Even if the quantity of power gnerated is only small, surely if this type of change were to be adopted by thousands of gyms as well as households then this could be an improvement if adopted by the masses.

There is one man who details exactly how to convert your bike into a power producing generator and states on his website not only is he generating an eco-friendly power, he is also getting fit, saying that it is an inspiration in itself. He details what he manages to power, to include his monitor, phone and other battery operated items.

I was interested to see what larger chains of gyms were doing to move forward in this direction, and Virgin Active are currently investigating the use of kinetic energy within its gyms. They also currently claim they have and use self-energising cardio machines.

I have written to Virgin Active requesting more information on their plans for the future for this innovative and apparently known for a while technque of harnessing clean energy. I hope to get a response from them soon, or hear of a news headline about this marvel.

The advances are no longer a barrier, as technology can already provide an alternative means of generation of energy, with wind turbines, solar panels and more.

Why then, are we so slow to action these fantastic discoveries and continue the way in using resources that can be replaced with  fresher, innovative and environmentally friendly techniques?

MONEY – If money is the reason, then lets ban money or burn it and just do what is right, and start NOW, not tomorrow in making the planet a place that can be lived on for many more generations to come.

Action has to be taken now, and everyone needs to be responsible and a participent in order for it to achieve success.

So, tell everyone you know about new discoveries and get people talking, reading and writing about the things that matter.

Use your own time and energy in a pro-active manner towards climate change and environmental issues. Make others aware, share ideas and do what you can as an individual, as we all can as individuals make a difference in the masses.

 Write to your MP, create or put your name to a petition for these causes, raise awareness, and above all make your voice heard that you favour and demand available change, World Change, and let it be known that it is unacceptable to deny, be ignorant to, or turn a blind eye to these now, more important than ever choices that we have as conscious and intelligent humans.

Daylight decreases by the month and darkness is bound for etrnity Throughout all time of the concerns for global warming and climate change, the people of planet earth only concerned themselves with the planets state of health.Knowing that the consumption of the planet and all it contains, the effects of global warming stretched much further than mankind had ever imagined

The world is yet to see another war, but the goal of war is generally to over power or kill your oponent. The planet currently presents it’s own war of punishment in the form of devastation. Millions of pounds go into wars, weaponary, machinery, not to mention the man hours, salaries and administration costs. Politics alone costs a pricely sum, just for being politics. There are possessions, procedures and anything generally that has a price, more often or not at an extortionate cost.We all claim to be caring, giving and unselfish, if so then why do we not all strive for the one big thing in life we should all have in common. Respect, respect the planet, respect the animals, respect the plants, trees and fellow humans, respect everything. There has become such disregard for many things, including money, all of which could be put to better use. Rich people, poor people, with a divide that is between in thinking in these kinds that our rules reflect such that of social disintegration. With earnings for that of a humble man, it is inconceivable that another could earn millions for being a celebrity, footballer etc What use is the money spent amongst these high fliers, earners and top players of the archaic divide, if all its use is for beautifying an aged body and mind.
